  Seattle Participant Gets to Pebble Beach
First Tee participant, Kristin Tan, recently attended The Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, a Champions Tour event. She is the first Seattle participant to be selected for this honor.
  First Tee Course Reporter at The Doral
Johnie Freatman, 17, was recently selected to be a Course Reporter at the WGC-CA at The Doral in Miami. Johnie was one of three First Tee Scholars nationwide to be selected for this honor.

Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida

Two Seattle participants recently received an all-expense paid trip to Disneyworld to attend a three-day career immersion program with 50 First Tee participants from across the country.

  Seattle Participant Speaks with Colin Powell
Seattle participant, Steve Sholdra, recently traveled to San Jose to speak alongside Colin Powell at The First Tee Annual Meeting. Steve was one of four First Tee participants from around the nation chosen to speak at The First Tee Network Meeting Closing Gala. Steve spoke to a crowd of more than 600 people about how the First Tee has shaped his life and allowed him to become a "Force for Good" for his community.

John Pat Bourassa, Facility Coordinator at our Jackson Park facility, was recently named to the Washington State Swim Coaches Hall of Fame. Read more on John Pat and his amazing commitment to youth sports.

Gordy Graybeal, First Tee of Greater Seattle Director of Golf, was recently named "Junior Golf Leader of the Year" for the Western Washington chapter of the PGA.

Program for kids teaches more than golf skill

"They may never be great golfers, but golf can help them become great people."

That line expresses the essence of The First Tee of Greater Seattle, a unique junior golf program.

While sports and athletes are popular tools for teaching individual responsibility and achievement, golf is a distinctive platform that promotes respect for tradition, integrity and relationships that span generations.

The First Tee will email a special Hole-in-One Award Certificate to participants who have had a hole-in-one in honor of their accomplishment. Please send stories and photos to jbaugher@thefirsttee.org .

The A/B Honor Roll

Representatives at The First Tee believe in encouraging participants to excel academically. Each semester, The First Tee Chapters are asked to provide the Home Office with a list of participants who have made As and Bs.
